individualized training

There are commonly two types of masters: Master Teachers (MT) and Master Practitioners (MP).

The Master Practitioner is a 3rd Degree practitioner without the ability to teach Reiki or to perform Reiki attunements. Some schools refer to this level as advanced Reiki training or ART.

Perhaps the ultimate distinction between the two types of Reiki masters is this: the Reiki Master Teacher empowers other masters.

NOTE: The term master is not meant to imply spiritual enlightenment and the title master teacher has been introduced in an attempt to avoid this implication.
